Looks like the Great Firewall or something like it is preventing you from completely loading www.skritter.com because it is hosted on Google App Engine, which is periodically blocked. Try instead our mirror:

legacy.skritter.cn

This might also be caused by an internet filter, such as SafeEyes. If you have such a filter installed, try adding appspot.com to the list of allowed domains.

I've added a textbook that has a lot of country names in it and so I am really well practiced at guo (国)but I still need work on some of them e.g. meiguo (美国). It would be cool if Skritter could realize that I know 国 and stop asking me for it when I get mei wrong (when I get it right I'll still want Skritter to ask to make sure I'm using the correct guo).

I agree. Skipping through the character you know can help (space), although be careful not to overuse this.
