adding turned off while in temporary parts study mode?

I was studying with only definitions turned on under the "temporary parts study" settings, and I though that meant that no new items would be added. When I started, the progress bar said that 10 items had been added (I guess that's for the day?) but now it says 11. Shouldn't it stay at 10 until I resume adding?

You probably came across an item which had been added before, but not studied yet because it was pushed back by another item for that word. Would that make sense?
