Looking for a list of electronics terms from the basics to power systems and embedded systems/sensor systems.

Especially covering microcontrollers, fpgas, processors ,signal processing ,data acquisition etc


I'm working towards being able to read the data sheets in Chinese (long way to go yet)

Basically your list is OK with only minor problems as listed below，

电(子)脑系统 diàn zǐ nǎo xì tǒng Computer system – delete the子
The above term is correct outside mainland China, but in mainland China, computer is usually translated as 计算机, so computer system is计算机系统

发光二极管矩阵显示器 LED matrix display
RGB发光二极管矩阵显示器 RGB LED matrix display
发光二极管矩阵显示器的RGB – the RGB of LED matrix display

电阻 = resistor or resistance
电阻器 = resistor
The 器 in电阻器 can be omitted when it is clear that one is talking about a device but not the resistance.
It is the same for电容 and电容器.

场效应管 == 场效应晶体管 == FET
MOS = 金属氧化物半导体Jīnshǔ yǎnghuà wù bàndǎotǐ
MOSFET = 金属氧化物半导体晶体管 Note, here the words “field effect” in FET are omitted.

You should obtain some English-Chinese dictionaries special for electronic terms for reference. Breaking down the words into its components can also help to reduce the length of the list. So instead of 功率继电器, learn 功率 and 继电器 separately. Then after you have learned 二极管 and 晶体管, you can just add 功率 before them to form 功率二极管 and 功率晶体管.

Since there are millions of these technical terms, it’s advisable to only learn those that are really useful to you. If you just pick up any list and start studying, you will soon find yourself overwhelmed with a lot of useless terms.

By the end of the year I'm supposed to be writing lessons/tutorials (converting some existing ones , plus good lot of new ones) in both English and chinese for programming embedded systems and also docs on how to access the systems etc for students to use.

So the pressure is on which is good as its a big motivation
(plus want to get up to HSK3 or 4 by the end of the year).

Also physics , mechanical and civil engineering tutorials including having to explain the the theory behind the experiment/tutorial.
e.g flat plate in a wind tunnel for boundary layer investigation/viewing.

All but ten or so of those terms(in the list I posted) I've used/using in trying to write an explanation of the lab rig I just got operational.

I'll post it if anyone is interested (once I get my chinese teacher to check it for me)

I have a Physics dictionary but haven't found an electronics dictionary yet
or mechanical/general engineering one.

What anyone have a clue what potting compound translates as ?
Its the coloured gupe/stuff that sets hard that gets put over some electronics

The Chinese kinda have the electronics design and manufacture thing well under control with out us Aussies... my 2c! - maybe there is another reason for translating to Mandarin?

Education market in China is a lot larger than here
and most unis have some teaching/courses in China/HongKong (hence the request to us for docs in English and Chinese)

You have yet to pass HSK4 but expect to write the documents by the end of the year! The only hope is to have a very competent teacher. The average Chinese teacher can’t understand this kind of technical documents let alone teaching you how to write one. Make sure your teacher has the relevant technical background. Good luck!

电子制作 and 无线电 magazines are both electronics hobby magazines, that would help I reckon!
