Skritters living in Taiwan and China

SkritterJake   April 30th, 2012 9:45a.m.

I'm taking a Research Methodology class in my graduate program, and am trying to better understand the current situation of foreigners living in either Taiwan or China. We are specifically looking what scenarios foreign students are most comfortable using Chinese in.

Any help would be appreciated. The survey should take around 15 minutes, and is open to any level of Chinese language speaker (as long as they are currently living abroad).

The current survey is both Traditional Chinese and English.

If you have any questions please feel free to leave them below. All responses will be kept anonymous and used for academic research purposes only.

Huge thanks to schmatz for lending me a server for a bit and porting the survey!

If you wish to see the results of our survey, please send me your email address to:

will take the survey in a few minutes

.....on second note, I probably won't be able to do it tonight because it seems that the survey site is blocked and the proxy server I use has been on the fritz for the last couple of days

Does anyone know of a survey site that works VPN free (and is free)? I was going to use SurveyMonkey but Basic plans only allow for 10 questions.

If I find one I'll get a Mainland friendly link up.

schmatz   April 30th, 2012 11:12a.m.

You know, I could probably just set one up for you(I own a few servers and know quite a bit of programming, so I could just either set up a pre-written survey package if they exist or quickly write one up for you guys)

Let me know if you are interested :)

SkritterJake   April 30th, 2012 11:26a.m.

That would be awesome... if you're willing. Just let me know what info you need.

Bohan   April 30th, 2012 11:44a.m.

I'm living in Japan but I figured I would answer your main question: I feel most comfortable in situations where I have memorized the appropriate Japanese response.

I submitted mine, I would be interested to hear the results (patrickjbrowning at gmail dot com)

杜玉珊   May 1st, 2012 5:52a.m.

Just filled in.

One small point. It forced me to choose between working and studying, I have been doing both for the last three years. The first 2 with a working visa and now with a student visa.

I selected studying. I hope that doesn't hurt your results at all.

SkritterJake   May 1st, 2012 9:00a.m.

wont be an issue. We are just using that for demographics of our people who took the survey, since your currently a student that is perfect!

Thanks for the help everyone. We should have results all finalized an analyzed inside of a few weeks. I might even make a blog post out of them. Anyone who has given me their email will get them as well.
