I posted this screen shot at Google Plus

williambuell   September 29th, 2011 1:00a.m.

The screen shot shows an on line dictionary which allows me to draw a character on the screen in Java and then it shows me dictionary entries.

I hope you can get to the link and see the screen shot.

My drawing was rather crude and the character rather complex BUT the dictionary found what I wanted.

I find such a tablet dictionary helps me to reinforce what I learn with Skritter.

You have this already in many on line dictionaries. Most of them are build on an opensource Java app that where developed in the 90:th. e.g. http://www.mdbg.net uses this and there you can look up words this way and then save it directly in to your mdbg study list in skritter. I use it my self daily.

can do that in a good few of the dictionaries on ipad and iphone and android

pleco is one of the best

Think there are a few places you can download that older java code and have a play.

Can do the same with the free pablo dictionary on windows http://ehaton.blogspot.com/

Thanks for that excellent dictionary link, Mandarinboy!

Money is scarce or I would invest in an ipad. All I have is a Blackberry.

Thanks, alxx, I will visit that pablo dictionary!
