Semi-OT - Wacom problem

FatDragon   May 30th, 2011 9:28a.m.

I posted on the Wacom website and it's pretty much dead there, so no dice with that.

I think I've mentioned this here before, but it's worth trying again.

I have an issue where two quick, short strokes in close proximity (first two of 没, for one of about a billion examples) register as a single stroke a lot of the time, with a line between the starting points of each stroke, so it looks kind've like an unused staple. This problem wasn't there in the beginning, but since it started it has persisted through complete driver cleansings and is evident in and out of Skritter. I've tried tweaking settings, and as one would expect, increased double-click distance makes the time interval worse, so I have to wait longer between strokes, but minimum double-click distance still makes me wait at least half a second.

Am I stuck with this or is there a way to fix it, or maybe a better place to ask (with the Wacom forums out of the equation since they're unpopulated and poorly set up)?

It's not a physical problem is it? With the pen nib getting stuck in the pen? Have you tried swapping nibs?

FatDragon   May 31st, 2011 12:44a.m.

Yeah, I've swapped nibs.

The odd thing is that it doesn't act like I didn't remove the pen from the surface, since the connecting line doesn't follow the line that the pen took, it just connects the beginnings of both lines. Typically what happens on Skritter is that the first stroke is recognized and the second isn't.

It really sounds like what happens when some of the settings aren't applied correctly. You're sure you've tried everything in the settings, according to the guide? There are multiple settings that can cause this if not configured just so.

Other things to try: different browsers, writing on a different area of the pad, seeing if this problem persists in things like drawing programs, and fiddling with the tip feel setting.
