Is a "quick and dirty" ipad version possible?

zhangyanglu   June 13th, 2012 3:34a.m.

Hey guys,

I was just wondering... would it be possible to just slightly modify the iphone version of the Skritter app, so that one could use the app on ipad in horizontal mode?

Or does it need excessive re-programming etc.?

I am asking because the app the way it works is already very fine, just when I hold the pad vertically, I always touch the 2x zoom button, but I think for writing it's really better to keep the original size of the app.

Also, horizontal would just feel better since it's my normal way of holding the pad:)

Last but not least, Nick, now that the app is launched, is there are chance to apply for beta testing a future ipad version? Or you still have the same restriction regarding ppl participating in beta test?

Nope! It's going to take a lot of work and be awesome. You're already looking at the "quick and dirty" version.

We are holding onto a few of the previous testers for Chinese, and our handful of remaining tester slots are needed for some hardcore Japanese testers.

It's a "nope!" to doing another quick and dirty setup before we make the real iPad layout. Rest assured, we'll use the space as best we can, but we're going to do it right, which takes some time.

Scratchpad is not available on the app. The only study mode is to study all your words at once. We'll be adding the ability to study single lists, and perhaps also starred words, but we weren't planning on including the scratchpad.

The demo is the best way to get a tour of the app. Unfortunately it's not working and Apple has not yet approved the bug fix we submitted. We'll send that out as soon as we can! Otherwise, check out the guide by clicking 'help' on the home screen. Don't use the demo yet though until the update comes out.
