Try Windows 8 on the iPad with Splashtop app

Now that's a great idea malaili2 ;) I didn't even consider testing the Windows 8 app, but it might be a great workaround for our Flash problem then?

By the way, a quick question to Nick, since it's also related to the ipad topic: Will the iOS app offer full support to the ipad? I mean, horizontal/vertical display layout, support for retina display etc.?

nick   April 23rd, 2012 10:36a.m.

We're not sure whether we'll be able to get the separate iPad layout into the initial release like we'd planned. If not, then it'll come soon afterward.

@nick - out of curiosity, how does it work on the iPad 1/2/3 at the moment? Does it scale up to fit the iPad screen, or fill just a iPhone sized area in the middle?

Also, is the app retina enabled for newer iPhone models?

zhangyanglu   April 23rd, 2012 10:52a.m.

I'd figure it's not full-screen sized, but with the option to amplify it (2x, 4x etc.) like in other native iphone apps; am I right?

What I worry about is the retina, as quite a lot of apps faced problems right after the Ipad3 was launched and they had to be adapted to work properly.

Currently the app blows up like zhangyanglu describes on iPad. It uses the retina textures on iPad 3, but I will make it use them on the iPad 1/2 for now at least. The retina iPhones and iPods are fully supported and look great. Not looking forward to making retina iPad 3 textures--although we saw it coming, we still haven't done any of the work.
