Beta - Submit Sentences

atdlouis   January 6th, 2013 2:18p.m.

I love the new sentence system. It makes attacking leeches so much easier.

I don't see a way to submit sentences, however. I've got some words that don't have sample sentences for, and I'd like to get some from the web and add them.

Will this be implemented? Can't wait to see this on iOS.

Edit: oops, sorry. Now I see what you mean. If there is no example in the first place there is no link to add any either.

In the top part of the box you have a link to create new sentences " create a new sentence for ....."

However, I miss a way to report errors in pinyin or structure. I have e.g. this:

我得好好儿地学习
wǒdé hǎohāor de xuéxí:
I must learn seriously.

de shoould be dei instead here since we are talking about must/have to.

Yeah, if there are no sentences, it doesn't show up. I'll fix this soon.

If you want to submit a correction for the sentence, then you can get the word popup for that sentence from the sentence chooser popup (hit the magnifying glass inside that popup), and from there you can get the correction form.

It seems like there are numerous pinyin mistakes in sentences involving de/dei and le/liao. Any reason why that's the case? At first I thought I just didn't understand some grammar point, but now I'm not so sure.

Oops, did not scroll down all the way to the bottom. Thanks. Found it.

Are you still importing new sentences or are they direct linked to the Tatoeba API? I have found several words without sentences that do have sentences in Tatoeba or Dict.cn. E.g. 此间.

Is it your own text segmenter you are using for the mouse over word marker in the sentences? If so there are a few minor mistakes/features such as in this:
他一口气喝了一品脱牛奶

Mouse over marks 一品 instead of 品脱 or better 一品脱 ( one pint)

It is doing this for all the example sentences with pint. Maybe this is since the word I where looking at at the moment where 脱 but here it where used as part of another word. At least for me it would be better to mark the whole word that the character is part of.

Please send corrections on sentences with mistakes for pinyin in 的, 得, 地, and 了--most of those are left over from when they were brought over from Dict.cn, where they had mistakes initially, but also our segmenter can't tell which pinyin it should be in many cases, so other sentences can also need manual tweaking.

此间 probably wasn't segmented by itself by our segmenter; a similar problem as with pint. 一品 is also a word, so it needs help to realize that 品脱 is wanted instead. This can be usually be fixed in the baller (except when a longer word is being broken up into multiple words by the segmenter), so please send corrections. Thanks!
