Turning off "shortcuts"

Lawnmower16   February 18th, 2011 10:52p.m.

I like the stroke-order shortcuts, Like in 了 and 糸, but some of them just annoy me, or screw up my rhythm, like the in 口, when after doing the second stroke, a slight twitch of the wrist will make the 3rd stroke appear. This is especially annoying when using Raw Squigs, when the 3rd stroke of the box seems to just not be registering, when in actuality it just assumed you did it wrong and threw it in there.

So, can you turn these "shortcuts" off? If not, I really think that ought to be added, perhaps with the ability to choose which shortcuts to disable.

I'd also be very interested in this.

OS:

Also, with the raw pegs I have trouble sometimes with phantom strokes as well. Where a tiny dot that is nearly noticeable counts as a full stroke such as the first stroke in 事。 Its worse when it as 16 stoke character and it happens on the 12th stroke and perhaps its a dot in the middle of another stroke that is unnoticeable.

And ink running from my Bamboo Pen device... Does anyone else get ink runs using a bamboo device? Its after you lift the pen and move it in the air to the next stoke, there are light pen marks that trail your floating pen. It looks just like a dripping pen. It kills my rhythm. Perhaps this is a setting or my pen tip is sticking after too much practice?

Perhaps it's a matter of technique? I've got a vague feeling I might have once seen something like that, but not for a very long time.

This is an uncommon problem (maybe once per 100 characters-ish?) for me, but annoying nonetheless.

Would you guys want to disable all shortcuts, or just some of them? If you just want to get rid of some, is it just the 口? If I made the 口 much less likely to get picked up accidentally, would that solve the issue?

(As you can see, I'm trying to avoid adding a preference for which writing shortcuts should be enabled.)

I know what you mean with the tiny dot thing, dfoxworthy. I'll add a to-do to make sure that raw squigs draw with a certain minimum length.

You might want to try playing around with your tip feel setting for the phantom ink things:

(It sounds like it might be set a little soft.)

I've had the dot problem, too, using raw squigs or not, sometimes a nervous touch of my tablet will draw the next stroke for me.

I guess the only shortcut that I ever remember bothering me was the 口 one, so yeah, if you just decreased the sensitivity to that it would be great.

I'll try to get that in there next time I do some tuning. Thanks!
