Skritter input device roundup

10 minutes of usage and "U" come up with a conclusion on which we are to base our purchase of an item we will use for hours at a time for the next several years?

Personally, I use an iPad2 and think it is horrible. It's fine for 10 minutes, but after 10 minutes, it gets quite cumbersome, and trying to use it out and about is a waste of time!

Get back to us when you've done more homework please.

I have been using the app on an Ipad1 for some months and lots of lots of hours and now since the release of the app also on an Itouch and an Iphone4. Always prefer the Ipad, even though it is a first generation one. As for Touch or Phone I still choose the touch. Simple reason for that is that it is lighter and fits my hand much better. Screen is better on the phone but that is not any issue for me. I mostly skritter with them while walking or riding the train to work. Only my personal thoughts thought.

10 minutes sounds like more than enough time to work out that something is going really badly. Would a few more hours have miraculously made the trackpad more usable?

Interesting that you find an iPad so cumbersome, you realise that it is not a big cellphone, right? Judging by its sales, the rest of the world disagrees with you.

@malaili2
An iPad is not a device meant to walk around with or hold it in one hand and write with the other. For what it is meant to be it can't be horrible or cumbersome; put it down on a table or on your legs as you would do with a laptop if you want to type/write.

I think the conclusions on devices are quite easy and basic to make and hours of more practice research would result in exactly the same thing. Actually the review can be written without even using the devices, no one would approve of it but it's really that obvious how the devices will react to skritter... 10 minutes Is enough unless the device is heating up so much and becomes so slow that it would become unusable and needs to be given 0 stars. That's unlikely with any of these decent devices.

I bought a stylus for my iPod touch (3rd gen), and I like it much more than using a finger, and probably makes holding the device better (though I'm not sure what was the concern there...)

What I don't like on the iPod is the forward/back buttons (very easy to hit by mistake), and that a lot of the info on the website is not on-screen on the iPod/iPhone (primarily character decomposition & individual character meaning within words). (Accessible, but in a way that's irritating to me). But understandable for the small form factor.

If the iPad version would have a layout to take care of this, it would be a killer feature, but since I don't even intend to buy one (Android tablets, please), not a help for me.

The iPhone is just a little bit faster than the iPod touch, especially when switching between apps you can see the iPod sometimes needs to think half a second, but while skrittering you won't notice that much or at all. It's a very minor thing and not even a minor annoyance. But who knows Apple will release a new iPod touch and iPhone with a bigger screen in a few months, that should make the app even better if possible.

I use both my iPad 3 and iPhone 4. I have to say the iPad is better. I still use my iPhone when I can't carry my iPad and it still works brilliant. I just tend to press the forward/ backward buttons by accident sometimes. The app is brilliant for learning to write, I don't know for what reason others use it. I assume it is mainly students studying or people living in China trying to learn. For me it is my degree and I had almost given up on even bothering to write. My classmates write pages and pages of characters and usually forget them a week later. I need to learn approximately 2000-3000 words and what I thought was impossible in 4 years. I honk is possible in 1.
