OT: corrupted font

quimby   February 24th, 2014 11:58p.m.

After using my computer to type Chinese characters (with a pinyin input), I will sometimes toggle between English and Chinese. Inevitably, after a while, my font goes screwy.

I will use it here and see if it shows up in the post. I thought if anyone has had a similar experience I could find them here. It drives me absolutely batty.

I use a PC with Windows 7, if that makes any difference. I can type normally only by opening a word document and then cut/paste.

Suggestions?

This used to happen to me all the time on QQ chat. I don't know, honestly. It just suddenly stopped happening. Sorry I can't help except to tell you your not alone. lol

This is probably because of full width and half width characters. Look for a half moon or full circle moon, usually yellow color to click on to deactivate that feature. Your font should return to normal when you have the half moon showing on the language bar.

There are quite some translations for example sentences in Skritter which are also messed up this way, really weird.

Thanks much Brandon. I added the "full/half" shape to my toolbar, and using it seems to solve the problem. The shortcut default for it appears to be Shift+Space so moving between English/Chinese (using Shift) undoubtedly has accidentally triggered it. Really, really relieved to have a solution for this.
