Stroke order of 皂

levitooker   December 9th, 2009 4:31p.m.

In the bottom part of 皂, Skritter is telling me I'm wrong to write the horizontal stroke before the hooked stroke, but that is the stroke order I learned in Heisig's Remembering Simplified Hanzi, and the order given on nciku.com.

It's also telling me the horizontal stroke should be written from right to left. I'm guessing this is because Skritter uses the variation of the character that has 匕 at the bottom instead of 七, a variation I found in only one (stylized) font on my computer.

Ah, another user recently reported that this one should have 匕 instead of 七, and our brief check confirmed, so we changed it. Checking Wenlin, though, which is a better authority for this:
"The bottom is 七 (qī), not 匕 or ...."

I've changed it back.
