Looks like the Great Firewall or something like it is preventing you from completely loading www.skritter.com because it is hosted on Google App Engine, which is periodically blocked. Try instead our mirror:

legacy.skritter.cn

This might also be caused by an internet filter, such as SafeEyes. If you have such a filter installed, try adding appspot.com to the list of allowed domains.

HSK3 and up; less characters more words

I have just started studying the HSK4 list and I notice that I get more words and less new characters. Is that the nature of HSK progressing or is that just a feel that I have?

Yeah--as you learn more of the basic characters which make up the words, the ratio will shift from more new characters to more new words. This is true for pretty much any lists, including HSK.
