Basic Chinese (A Grammar and Workbook) - a new list

anterya   March 26th, 2013 11:53a.m.

I'd like to announce a new word list that I have just published: http://www.skritter.com/vocab/list?list=259376677

Personally, I found this grammar textbook very useful. It combines a very nice grammar reference with a workbook (by providing a good deal of exercises for each chapter). The study levels covered by this book are (in my opinion) elementary and lower intermediate. There's also a second book in this series called Intermediate Chinese, which covers (approx.) the intermediate and upper intermediate levels. I'll probably compile a word list for the second book some time later.

Words for this list were taken from the Chinese-English dictionary provided at the end of the book in question.

Official description:

Basic Chinese introduces the essentials of Chinese syntax. Each of the 25 units deals with a particular grammatical point and provides associated exercises. Features include:

* a clear, accessible format
* many useful language examples
* jargon-free explanations of grammar
* ample drills and exercises
* a full key to exercises.

All Chinese entries are presented in both Pinyin romanization and Chinese characters, and are accompanied, in most cases, by English translations to facilitate self-tuition as well as classroom teaching in both spoken and written Chinese.

Basic Chinese is designed for students new to the language. Together with its sister volume, Intermediate Chinese, it forms a compendium of the essentials of Chinese syntax.
