time series colors

Olaf   January 30th, 2012 10:15a.m.

I've noticed lately that the time series plots on the progress pages have been displaying different colors. Is this a result of a redesign or is this meant to tell me something?

I've looked through the FAQs and help pages but didn't find anything about on this topic.

I also saw this - changed to orange one week (from the normal green). Also curious why this is.

Noqa   January 30th, 2012 11:23a.m.

Normal green?

For me blue is the normal colour. It changed to green after I used "save me" button (but temporarely, I think)

Olaf   January 30th, 2012 11:43a.m.

It used to be blue for me as well, then changed to green for a while and has been orange for a few days now. Sounds like we're not seeing the changes at the same times.

The mystery deepens...

It was also after I used the "Save Me" button a few weeks ago - maybe it has to do with that.

My guess it that the colour refers to your retention rate. Green is high retention; orange moderate retention; and so on.

Zyphen   January 30th, 2012 12:21p.m.

Yeah I think it has to do with your overall retention rate. Mine is hovering at just below 85, so mine keeps changing from orange to green and back again.

Maybe this is how it works:

0-75: Red
75-85: Orange
85-?: Green
?-100: Blue

junglegirl   January 30th, 2012 3:48p.m.

Ah yes, I think you're on to something there. Mine went red as soon as I recalculated my totals; must be because the recount made my retention rate go off-kilter.

It was something we were trying out, but it didn't seem to add very much. Considering either getting rid of it, or leaving it until trying to have the colors indicate per-day retention rather than just the retention for the entire period in question. What do y'all think?

Olaf   January 31st, 2012 4:15p.m.

I think having the colors indicate retention per-day could be interesting, but it would be good to have a legend to the color scheme.

I like it! Don't get rid of it please
