Troubles trying out iOS app on iPad 3

lechuan   June 12th, 2012 11:21a.m.

I'm trying to try out the new Skritter iOS app on an iPad 3. However when the app first comes up and I try a demo list, the screens is just blank (only says demo, skip). If I log in with a really old account I created a long time ago, I can bring up a word list (old HSK), but I cannot draw anything in the drawing area.

Any suggestions for trying this out?

@lechuan, I know Scott is trying to work on fixing these issues.

I'm not on the tech side of things so the best answer I can give you is try possibly try and kill the app with home button and restart it. You might even wanna try and restart the iPad and see if that helps the issue. My friend was having a similar issue and those seemed to fix the problem. It isn't the most elegant solution, but it worked until we can get some of these bugs fixed.

Let me know if that helps!

lechuan, we will fix the demo as soon as we can get an update through.

Does the broken study screen happen only after you encountered the black-screen demo bug? (That is, if you force quit the app, does the logged-in study screen start working again, as long as you don't go to the demo again first?)

Not sure. I went into the website and deleted all cards to see if that would help. Which means I don't have any cards to test. But I'll give it another go when the demos patched. I tried a rebooting after reinstalling but didn't help much.

Okay--thanks for trying that. Sorry about the bug! The update is in the queue now.

I just installed this app on my iPad 2. It also shows a black screen after starting the demo. Restarting the app after killing it still shows the black screen in demo mode.

Also, I'm confused about people talking about an iPad app. In the app store I see from Canada, there is only an iPhone app. Is there a native iPad version of the app?

Thanks!

They are planning an iPad layout, but it's not available yet. In the meantime, the iPhone version works fine on the iPad.

The demo will still be a black screen after restarting--that's what we need the update to fix. If you can sign up for the free account by skipping the demo, that's when you restart and you should be able to use the logged-in study screen. Sorry about this--I know it's not a good introduction to the service!

Same here. I just installed the newest version on ipad 3 and neither the demo nor the drawing works. Tested killing app and rebooring. Anything in the queue ?

If the logged-in study screen doesn't respond after you force-quit the app and restart it, then that's something we haven't seen before--can you describe in more detail what you're seeing? You should avoid seeing the demo black-screen in between restarting the app and trying to use the logged-in study screen.

On my ipad 3 it runs perfectly, but I also have to say I was among the first to download it and never used the demo mode.
