editing a list

i would say tai fei, the "word" that you tried to put in is not ONE word but TWO.

Are you entering with the definition? To add a word to the list you need to enter the character or the pinyin. It doesn't do definition lookups. Pasting 太肥 directly into the editor where it says 'type or paste words here and press enter' should work.

Ah, I see. Editing lists and editing words are two separate tasks; the list editor doesn't edit words. To edit a word definition, click it anywhere outside of the editor to open its word popup then edit the definition from there. You can click on the word in the list after you've finished editing and saved your changes, or search for it in my words, or edit the definition while you're studying it either on the site or on the app. Does that make sense?

The list editor is a little bit confusing when editing an existing list. It becomes clearer when you realise that you are only supposed to fill in a single simplified/traditional word, and let the site fill in the traditional/simplified, pinyin, and definition.

This confusing behaviour doesn't exist when editing a word that you have just added to a list, but haven't yet saved.

I still don't understand this. I want to change 'Chinese patent medicine' to 'ready-made Chinese medicine' but I can't get the definition to change.

I'd also like to change 中药 Zhōngyào to zhongyao - why does it have a capital Z?

Zeppa   December 30th, 2012 6:10p.m.

Sorry, have got it now - changed the definition and submitted a request re the uppercase Z.

Evan   December 30th, 2012 6:27p.m.

That uppercase Z must have been entered by whoever originally created the entry. I just fixed it, thanks!
