I noticed a problem in the character radical definitions when using a language other than English, in my case Italian.

Let me give an example:

壶

In the English radical definitions we read:

士 shì: *Soldier* - scholar; warrior
冖 mì: cover
业 yè: *Profession* - industry; job; studies; already

No problem, all three the definitions are correct.

But take a look at the Italian definitions:

士 shì: *Soldier* - scholar; warrior
冖 mì: erudito; guerriero
业 yè: *Profession* - industry; job; studies; already

The second line
冖 mì: erudito; guerriero
is just the Italian translation of "scholar; warrior" (the translation of cover should be "coperchio").

I have noticed this problem many times: my personal interpretation of the bug is that when a second language definition of the term in the first field is available than this definition "shifts" in the second field covering the correct second field definition.

Someone else noticed it?

This is one of my top three bugs right now. I have been working on it forever and still haven't figured it out yet. But I'm not doing much else until I fix these, so I will get it before too long!

I have seen that too, in French. Also some odd "%%" characters that mix into the definitions.
One question, Nick : where do these translations come from ? from the users contributions, or from an automatic translation-from-english system ?

Still working on this. For French, it's mostly user-submitted. There were a few hundred from CFDict, too.

After studying for some time with the language pair ZH-IT I switched again to ZH-EN because I found some definitions unsatisfactory.

Still, some of the reviewed words have the Italian definition.

The custom definitions that you submitted are submitted as corrections for that language, but they are still your custom definition, so they transfer over when you switch languages. We don't have it set up so that you have a different set of custom definitions for each language pair.

I think I fixed this decomposition ordering bug at long last. Are you still seeing any issues?

Nope, now the order seems to be correct.

It goes into a queue of corrections to become the official definition for that word. Since we don't have anyone who can read Russian to review corrections, we'll probably just do a run through soon and take your word for it, perhaps working on the formatting a little bit. If there was no previous Russian definition, it is immediately accepted.
