Looks like the Great Firewall or something like it is preventing you from completely loading www.skritter.com because it is hosted on Google App Engine, which is periodically blocked. Try instead our mirror:

legacy.skritter.cn

This might also be caused by an internet filter, such as SafeEyes. If you have such a filter installed, try adding appspot.com to the list of allowed domains.

whats wrong with the site in China?

jorgenmunk   February 20th, 2011 3:37a.m.

The page wont load properly, just loads all the text in the left side of the screen, anybody else have this problem in China??

dario27   February 20th, 2011 3:45a.m.

Me too. Yesterday it didn't work either. It's so frustrating!!! This is what we pay for?!

Byzanti   February 20th, 2011 3:58a.m.

Have you tried both skritter.cn as well as skritter.com ? If one has trouble, most of the time the other will work...

Mandarinboy   February 20th, 2011 4:20a.m.

I am using .cn (from Japan) and have not had any such problems. I am using Chrome as browser. Do you use any other browser perhaps?

jorgenmunk   February 20th, 2011 5:40a.m.

Best advice!

I stumbled upon the .cn site during my free trial, I was having serious issues with the .com site and was about to cancel my subscription because of it, so glad I didn't!!!

yup me too

On Chrome in china

I started using skritter.cn and have been trouble free so far

www.skritter.com is optimized for speed and www.skritter.cn is optimized to not have any trouble with the GFW, which is why only www.skritter.cn works completely for you guys. I'll start working on something that will better handle these cases when the resources aren't loading like that, perhaps have the site automatically forward you to the www.skritter.cn site.

Byzanti   February 21st, 2011 8:16a.m.

Scott, it's not that clear cut in practice. When I was in China, sometimes it was .com being good and .cn less so, and sometimes vice versa... Generally .cn was my first port of call though.

Well this alternative forwarding system would only occur when www.skritter.com is being the one that is not working, so it should only help, not hinder.
