Trouble loading a ChinesePod lesson list

icebear   February 24th, 2012 7:02a.m.

First time this has happened - I'm having trouble loading the lesson vocab for "Buying High-Speed Train Tickets". It's the first time this has happened with a ChinesePod list (and others are working fine), is it because the lesson is too new? Any tips?

Thanks

Looks like we're having trouble connecting to the API. I've emailed their developer to figure out what's happened. I don't think anyone can sign into their ChinesePod account through Skritter right now.

I really hope this will be fixed soon, as it is really a useful feature that I use almost every day.

By the way, is there any chance of having a similar feature with Popup Chinese and ChineseClass101?

icebear   February 26th, 2012 5:16a.m.

Agreed. The inconvenience of copying and pasting from the other website is relatively minor, but have the lists integrated automatically was a small time saving feature I used essentially every day. Hope it's fixed soon!

BTW, swimming, 14000 words learned in Skritter?! How massive is your review queue?!

I currently have about 3700 words to review. It's an on going struggle... Having many different words that contain the same characters helps me remember the individual characters.

If Popup Chinese and Chinese Class 101 had APIs, it would be possible, although I'm not sure if the effort makes sense. We like to promote ChinesePod for this way, though, since they've done a lot of things to help us out.

Makes sense. I found out about Skritter from ChinesePod. Its a pity they made the change with apparent disregard for Skritter users. I think it really leverages the value of a Chinese Pod subscription.

Well, to be fair, we never did upgrade to v2 of their API, instead hanging onto a really-outdated v1 while waiting for a v3. It only makes sense that those old connections would get severed after all this time. I'm confident that we'll work together to bring it back online soon.

Hello Nick, could you kindly tell us what's the status on this issue? Chinesepod has a 15% discount on its 2 year discription and I am still struggling. Would help to know how interaction with skitter is working right now since I wanna make some efforts in the next months to really boost my neglected Chinese skills :-)

Hi zhangyanglu,

This was fixed in early April. There were several forum topics on this issue so we didn't get around to responding to each one. But you should be good to go! If you have any issues using it let us know.

Excellent, thanks for your reply, Scott.

I missed the other threads on that. By the way, I figured that while surfing in the forum with ipad 3 and Safari, the search function doesn't work properly.

When I search for "chinesepod" for example, there are several pages with the entries found. Just, I cannot click on the "2" to get to the second page of search results etc.

Can anyone confirm?

I searched "chinesepod" on the search function on my iOS 5 iPhone 3GS browser and I was able to click the page numbers and get other pages.
