Longest Queue - I'm up to 1837 items!

Doug (松俊江)   December 31st, 2009 9:52p.m.

"2shanghai, you have 1837 items ready to review."

Is this a record?

I added a whole bunch of characters before I went away to Haerbin/哈尔滨 (snow and ice festival) and Yabuli/亚布力 (skiing); I was a bit behind in Skritter compared to my textbooks.

I'm actually not worried about catching up as it shouldn't take that long (maybe a week if I don't add new ones - and I will) and as I'm currently a language student I know that I need to spend time studying anyways. Also, since I was traveling in China I did see many a character "in the wild" which hopefully reinforced the learning

I think I was well over 2000 at one point. Now I only have 1760...

Nicki   January 1st, 2010 3:21a.m.

Thanks for cheering me up about my current 275!

jcraigie   January 1st, 2010 6:20a.m.

Right now im on 2129 and counting - I have a habit of studying like crazy for a few days then stopping for an entire week, then doing it all over again. Never seems to take too long to clear though

Byzanti   January 1st, 2010 6:30a.m.

How many do you guys get from one evening to the next morning? Here it usually adds around another 200 or so...

I think this means I need to hurry up and remember older characters better :p.

magicdave   January 1st, 2010 1:09p.m.

2733 today...

taylor04   January 1st, 2010 2:01p.m.

900 here, so basically 95% of what I have on Skritter:P. I tried to keep it up over the holidays, Skrittering twice when I was drunk. Then I skipped a day and it went downhill from there...

nick   January 1st, 2010 4:03p.m.

Huh, I've been away for ten days and am only up to 1275. Must be that long term learning kicking in, because in the past it'd have been higher.

I think I saw George have over 3000 before when he was slacking.

Then there was the error that made it such that sometimes people would see 9001 or 18002 items to review.

The system actually doesn't count past 1000 items of one type, so if you had 1500 simplified writings, you'd only see 1000 of them in your total.

mpdaugherty   January 2nd, 2010 12:27a.m.

Hah, I guess I need to start studying characters more...

I do 10-12 minutes a day almost every day and I've been feeling pretty bad about having a queue of around 30-40 the last few days - even going so far as to consider changing my studying habits from time based to just making sure the queue hits zero every day. Maybe I shouldn't worry so much, eh?

nick   January 2nd, 2010 1:44p.m.

Clearing the reviews gives a good goal, but it's really an arbitrary cutoff--the difference between stuff that's 105% due and 95% due is small, even the difference between 130% due and 70% due. All study is good and the review bar should be working for you, not you for it!

Doug (松俊江)   January 3rd, 2010 8:50a.m.

I like to get my reviews cleared - I do - but I like to keep up with my lessons more so I try to add all the characters for my classes before the classes and eventually catch up with reviews. It does through the SRS off a bit though.

Slightly related: Longest "added"?

One day I cleared my account and started again. By the time I caught up to my level, Skritter was saying it had added more than 3000 characters:
