Japanese iOS "Extra Japanese Sounds" fails to download :(

Bogobogo   September 2nd, 2012 12:25p.m.

Just got the new iOS Japanese app up and running and everything is working well except, for the ability to download Extra Japanese Sounds. I get an error after about 3 - 4 minutes, "Download failed. Retry?". I have of course retried, many times to no success.

Anyone else experiencing this problem?
Any possible resolutions?

ALL FIXED, THANK YOU SKRITTER TEAM! 。◕ ‿ ◕。

I also am having the same issue. It seems my audio in general isn't working correctly within the app.

If you aren't getting any sound at all, turn the audio settings pff and on again. I had a similar issue but I thought it was because I was beta testing before and had older settings that weren't being read correctly.

I get the normal sounds, but the download of the extra ones keeps failing. Anyway, glad that the app is finally out. Love using it !!

Hmm. Are you trying to download over WiFi or cellular data? I just tried it and am seeing the same thing, but haven't figured out what's happening yet. Will keep investigating.

Thank you for your reply and continued support. I have been attempting the download over WiFi on an iPod touch, 4th generation.

WiFi + iPhone 3GS. Thank you for taking care of this.

Same here. At first I didnt have any sounds at all on my Ipad2, at least until I realized I need to create a test-account so fully test Japanese-Skritter and to have sound. Now the app is working nearly flawlessly. Just the extra sounds I can't download.

I wanted to download the extra sounds, because sometimes even standard words like "watashi 私" dont have sound in the standard japanese skritter iOS app (though I must say: "watashi" is the only word/kanji I came in contact with so far that doesnt have a soundfile).

I am using an Ipad2 over wi-fi (it doesnt have a chip for cellular data services).

Aside from the download issue: great app. Really, really great. I'm loving the dark skin. I still hate subscriptions, but Skritter might be worth it. ;)

Congratulations to the release of the app. It's wonderful.

Regarding this issue, I can also confirm it. I'm using an iPhone 4 in Japan and was connecting via WiFi when I tried to download it. I tried multiple times. Everything else works perfectly fine.

Fixed the bug. Give it another try guys!

Woot, you fixed it! Great job and thank you so very much! (^_^d)

Download was ok this time, thanks :-)

now working, thanks.

Strange. Even after downloading the additional soundfiles, the kanji for fish 魚 didnt have a soundfile. I use the "basic kanji book" list (or whatever its called) to study the kanji. Why doesnt fish have a soundfile attached? It should be a standard kanji 0.o

I sent a bug report for that through the (iPad) app.
