Launch

nick   April 28th, 2009 11:50p.m.

So, we're launching! Details are on the blog and soon in your email.

What do you guys think? I'm excited about launching, and also about hooking up the ChinesePod support, which will happen as soon as they work out one final bug. It'll be all you imagined, I think.

The pricing is finally up, then. Thanks for all your input into that decision.

wrcooper   April 29th, 2009 4:42a.m.

Awesome! I'm looking forward to financially rewarding you guys for all of your hard work. You deserve it!

百发没中   April 29th, 2009 4:53a.m.

Yep, I really hope this works out really well for you guys (and not just because not studying with Skritter seems a colossal waste of time).
Price wise looks like something I can afford, so that's great (despite the fact that I will be graduating this summer and will be looking for a job in the middle of a financial crisis...).

James Flanagan   April 29th, 2009 5:28a.m.

This must be exciting for you guys.
By the way, the price is definitely something I'm willing to pay on a yearly basis.
Dont forget to incorporate paypal!

Lyons   April 29th, 2009 8:24a.m.

Congratulations! And thanks yet again for creating this website. The prices seem totally reasonable, and I'm really looking forward to trying out the ChinesePod support.

thinkbuddha   April 29th, 2009 9:19a.m.

Great news. The pricing seems good ($6 a month - or about three cups of coffee: I probably save that amount every month thanks to not going for coffee due to compulsive Skrittering...), and ChinesePod support is a level of wonderfulness that goes beyond what anybody could really expect. Well done on all your hard work.

jpo   April 29th, 2009 9:57a.m.

Wow, congratulations. Thanks for putting together such an outstanding site.

The pricing came in just about where I was hoping/expecting. I thought that something near the $10/month price point would be low enough to attract lots of users, and it's nice to see the long-term options that even bring it down significantly below that level.

The list of upcoming features looks terrific, too.

Tortue   April 30th, 2009 7:54a.m.

Congratulations !

baituzi439   April 30th, 2009 2:42p.m.

Excellent! Thanks for all the hard work, because this really has been a very helpful program, the kind of thing that makes someone glad to support it commercially. Thanks also for being receptive to all the comments and criticisms on the forums, since it appears you all have really taken the effort to take us (the peanut gallery) seriously!

ChrisClark   May 1st, 2009 2:07a.m.

Congrats! Before I came upon your site, my Chinese had plateaued for more than a year. Thanks not only for a great site, but for teaching me about spaced repetition systems, something I can apply to other domains of learning besides Chinese.

Matthias   May 1st, 2009 8:00a.m.

congratulations. although for us the nice time of bugging you guys with bugs will be over. Nevertheless one of the nicest beta programs I've ever seen.

my compliments.

followtheflow   May 1st, 2009 2:56p.m.

Congrats guys! Are there any plans for a student discount like offered at Chinese Pod?

nick   May 3rd, 2009 10:01a.m.

Thanks for all the support, guys! This thread makes me happy.

Konfidi: we'll see what we can do about PayPal.

Matthias: I think there will still be lots of bugs, although after we launch we'll be testing much more thoroughly so as to avoid downtime. You'll get to send us many more bugs, I'm sure.

Followtheflow: We weren't planning on a student discount, but rather having large institutional discounts for schools to purchase it for all their studens. So, you could look at introducing Skritter to your teachers and persuading them of its worth as one means of getting a discount.

followtheflow   May 4th, 2009 4:22a.m.

Alright, I emailed my Chinese tutor, let's see what she will say. Sounds like a great idea anyway.

zhouyi   May 4th, 2009 2:47p.m.

I've been remiss in not posting to this thread earlier.... Definite congratulations on the launch. You've made a wonderful tool for Chinese learners and I'm confident you will be able to make it even better yet. Thanks for your patience in dealing with questions, comments, etc. The responsiveness of the Skritter team to inquiries has been amazing. Hope you make a bundle--that will mean a lot of people learning Chinese and you guys getting compensated appropriately for your hard work.
