Bug audio example sentence

giordi   May 20th, 2012 9:22a.m.

Hi,
i have tried on IE and Firefox, when I am listening to the sample sentence I listen to other sample sencence it seems that the database is in a mess.
Please fix it as soon as possible.

Yes, I have seen that too, so skipped looking at sentence for now - maybe it is known bug, hope you/they look into after releasing iphone app :)

Same issue here.

scott   May 22nd, 2012 12:47p.m.

The service that graciously provides the audio appears to be having some technical issues. We've contacted them to try and get some support.

Roberto   May 26th, 2012 4:02a.m.

I guys, I'm the "one" to blame for this.

We are investigating the issue, but seems to be quite tricky to track were it gets 'confused' :)

It is something happening only with Skritter, hopefully not involving the whole of our infrastructure, but we'll try to get it back right as soon as possible.

Sorry for that.

Looks like I left out a space in the URL when I coded that feature on our end--my mistake, and it was lucky to have worked at all for the time that it has. I'll upload the fix shortly.

Thanks again to Roberto of Tingwo for the excellent TTS service.

Still has problems...

nick   May 30th, 2012 4:24p.m.

I thought we'd just fixed this, but I guess not. Hmm. We'll keep working on it.

Wahiawa resident   June 4th, 2012 1:34a.m.

I'm at the stage where listening to the sample sentence would be useful, but it's always something else.

yeldahtron   June 5th, 2012 10:01a.m.

This bug is really annoying. I could really benefit from hearing the correct audio cue, but the feature still isn't working correctly.

Wahiawa resident   June 9th, 2012 7:30p.m.

Is there any update on this? As of today (June 9) the problem remains.

nick   June 10th, 2012 9:56p.m.

The good sir with knowledge of the gears involved was on leave this past week, so we're looking forward to taking another crack at it this week. Thanks for your patience.

pippopluto   July 3rd, 2012 6:47p.m.

Hi there, it was one of those very buggy bugs....

It is partly solved now at least in the beta site (Nick rightfully removed the audio button from the production site). Still we have a small unespected behaviour (an unwanted word before each sentence) and we hope to also get rid of it asap.

I apologise for the mulfunctioning and for any inconvenience caused to anyone that was routinely using the service in its study process.

Please be aware that this has nothing to do with Skritter, but the issue was entirely on our side.

nick   July 3rd, 2012 7:57p.m.

We've found the last part of the problem and turned the example sentence text-to-speech back on. Thanks for patience, all.

ErikHaze   August 13th, 2012 6:54p.m.

I still have the problem :-( I signed up two days ago and about 80% of the read sentences are wrong... Can I do anything to get it right?

nick   August 15th, 2012 1:00a.m.

We're going to turn it off on the live site for now, since we're still not sure what's going on yet. Sorry! We'll turn it back on when we figure it out.
