Skriter iOS app for ipod touch or just iPhone?

戴德辉   December 29th, 2011 11:01p.m.

Was just wondering, is the upcoming Skritter app for all iOS devices like the iPod touch or just the iPhone? Thanks!

ddapore99   December 29th, 2011 11:12p.m.

iPod Touch, iPhone, iPad

atdlouis   December 29th, 2011 11:35p.m.

I'm testing it on the iPod touch. Works like magic.

Great, thanks guys!

There are very few (any?) apps that are for the iPhone that won't work for the iPod touch.

Mandarinboy   December 30th, 2011 1:29p.m.

Worth mentioned maybe that it is not decided yet if the app will require IOS5 or not. If they go for IOS5 you need at least generation 3 of Touch to be able to run the OS. I run the Alpha on first gen IPAD and that is magical.

Kuini   January 1st, 2012 6:38a.m.

Is there a way to test the beta ? I wish i could review for my exams with it, would change my life ^^;

scott   January 2nd, 2012 11:50a.m.

@Mandarainboy: Currently we're requiring iOS 4.3 or higher. Later on, in future releases, we may increase that, but it probably won't be for a while after our first release.

@Kuini: Sorry, we're very limited by Apple in how many people we can let into testing, and the list has gotten full a while ago. Wish we could let more in!

I'm not sure which generation my Itouch is ; I bought it in 2009. Does anyone know if it will work with the app?

@valymer, thanks for the link

it says next to "version" that mine is
firmware 3.1.3 .

Scott, does this mean that mine won't work with the app ?

scott   January 3rd, 2012 11:53a.m.

I'm afraid not, you'll need 4.3 or higher. Can you try updating it, or is that the highest version of the software iTunes will install on it?

Bohan   January 4th, 2012 2:44a.m.

oh okay, it's not the end of the world.

If anyone happens to know if I can update my obsolete device to 4.3 or higher, let me know. Thanks !!

scott   January 4th, 2012 11:05a.m.

Try plugging it into your computer with iTunes installed, and see if iTunes will let you update it. I think it usually pops up a notification offering to update your device whenever it can, pretty much. Otherwise, click on the device in the menu to the left and see if it says anything about there being updates.

Bohan   January 17th, 2012 4:45p.m.

@Scott okay I just went ahead and did that. It's offering me an update to version 4.2 . I'm downloading this version right now, and I'm wondering if it's likely that it will offer 4.3 or higher later on some time. Is that likely to happen ?

icebear   January 17th, 2012 5:49p.m.

Maybe try updating again once 4.2 has installed. Not sure about iOS, but in some cases software updates must be applied individually (as opposed to a final, cumulative update). Seems unlikely here but worth a try!

nick   January 17th, 2012 6:42p.m.

You probably have a 2nd gen iPod Touch, which maxes at 4.2.1. It won't be able to run the app, unfortunately.
