Hey guys, I've been trying to collect a bunch of covers of english pop songs in chinese (or, possibly the reverse?) - I find song translations an interesting challenge (and plus who doesnt want to hear call me maybe in chinese?)

@ximen, is superstar really a cover? I thought it where written for SHE when they where on their label and slightly after that also released an English version that did not do much on any charts. Anyway, that video is frequently running in my daughters room where my 3 years old is really shaking loose to it. Lemon tree i actually bought as non fake CD back in Beijing at the time. The vendor (in an state owned shop)where chocked that anyone actually wanted a non fake product.

@Mandarinboy, according to that Wiki link Superstar came first like you said. Their version is better in my opinion. Those guys seem to work together a fair bit.

Aurora, if you can read Chinese, just search for the song name and 歌词 and you'll probably find them. Or look on Youtube for karaoke / lyrics versions.

Mandarinboy and all, I love the 'just cant get enough' clip. COuldn't find the lyrics to copy so typed them out here to share, but one line just doesnt make sense to me 'After the rainbow' they have as 架起了彩虹， is 架 used correctly in this sentence?

My Chinese is really not good enough to give a answer but it seems odd to me. 架起 can mean elevate, build, put up. The original phrase from Depeche mode is "Just like a rainbow you know you set me free" The second part here is, 美丽自由 beautiful freedom? Now I have to listen more carefully to the lyrics and check this out. This seems to be something like set up an rainbow to give me beautiful freedom.

Eidt, Wow, it is ok grammatically. It is like setting up a rainbow or when the rainbow comes up. The second part has just the "he" omitted "give me beauty and freedom". There I see, it is possible to learn from all sort of sources;-)

It can be read in this way,
你是天使， (在)下雨的时候，你像太阳一样架起了彩虹， 给我们美丽自由，热血沸腾，爱情燃烧 。

A rainbow is shaped like a bridge, so the verb for building a rainbow can also use the same verb 架 for building a bridge as in 架桥.

These are amazing! Keep'em up :D I might try and do my own translation of some songs too, possibly Heartbeats - The Knife or some Vampire Weekend :P
