No sound in skritter

Rodney   March 13th, 2014 9:34a.m.

Recently I doen's have any sound anymore on skritter, I checken other applications and all options within skritter and it says that the sounds are on. Anyone has any idea what could be the problem? I also rebooted my Ipad4, still nothing. if not I guess I ll reinstall it. Thanks for the help

gua nö   March 13th, 2014 5:19p.m.

It has happened for me a few times as well. Restarting the application has done the trick (I think it is still on when you reboot, so if you haven't tried it just double click the home button and close Skritter. Sorry if this was obvious and you've tried it before).

Same here too, I think this came with the last update they made.
Do you also listen to music on iphone while skrittering? I figure this might be a reason, don't know.

There is no sound on my iPad either , help!

boblee   March 14th, 2014 8:11a.m.

Now my iPad mini has no sound, as well. Any help would be appreciated. I just did a clear local data, and it was like this after.

This might sound silly, but is the mute switch on the device flipped on by any chance?

gua nö   March 14th, 2014 1:32p.m.

Nope, not for me at least. It usually (always?) occurs when returning to skritter from another app, with skritter being on in the background. It seems to be the same as the probblem of characters disapperaing described in another tread. But as I said, restarting the app has worked for me.

When I reset my retention rate from 90% to 95% and returned to my study list, my sound magically returned!! After more than 2 days off being off.

nick   March 16th, 2014 2:06p.m.

Skritter tries to reset the audio settings every time you make any change to your audio settings, so if you try kerjiggering the volume slider, does it help?

iPads also have a weird selective mute thing they do which you could check: http://www.gottabemobile.com/2011/09/15/how-to-fix-no-sound-in-ipad-apps/

I've reported this problem before (iOS 6 times) and it's still there. I haven't been able to nail down exactly what triggers it, but it seems to coincide with one of two things (or both):

1. Using the Alarm. My sound is gone *every* morning, but I have noticed a few days when I haven't set my alarm the night before, that the sound sometimes work.

2. The logical day end in Skritter (03:00 or 04:00 - I don't remember which). I was up really late a few days ago, until afer 04:00, and grabbed Skritter for a quick pre-sleep review. I noticed the sound was gone where it was working earlier in the evening. I hadn't used anything using sound during the evening, and haven't changed the volume either. The phone was just sitting on my desk.

Nick, I'll try changing the volume next time I notice this.

"Skritter tries to reset the audio settings every time you make any change to your audio settings, so if you try kerjiggering the volume slider, does it help? "

Nick, there is a different bug, which I am not sure whether post here or in a new topic (please advise).

When I am listening to MP3 in the background, open skritter and adjust the volume of Skritter in the "settings", no matter whether I put it from 10% to 100% or from 80% to 90%, or 95% to 50%... if adjusting the Skritter volume while listening to music, the sound mutes completely, until you force Skritter to restart.

For what it's worth:

"Skritter tries to reset the audio settings every time you make any change to your audio settings, so if you try kerjiggering the volume slider, does it help? "

I tried that this morning - both with Skritter open and with Skritter backgrounded. It doesn't work. I have to go the task list, kill Skritter, and open it again.

Just to be clear: the sounds that are "muted" are the sound effects only. The pronounciations still work normally.

I hope that helps!

I'm not hearing any Japanese pronunciations today. Other sounds work, and all the Chinese audio works (plus new words by a male voice). Clearing browser cache and changing settings didn't work.

Pearl77728   April 3rd, 2014 6:30a.m.

I have the same issue as DobbsBob. I cannot hear any Japanese pronunciations even after checking all my settings.

DobbsBob   April 4th, 2014 7:27p.m.

I got "下" said so far, but only that...

edit: And 九.

rodney   April 11th, 2014 10:01a.m.

the audio setting changes worked :D thanks guys, ps sorry for my late reply.

DobbsBob   April 17th, 2014 12:28a.m.

Japanese sounds started working for me again an hour or two ago.

ricksh   April 17th, 2014 9:26a.m.

just had this too (chinese, ios7) - only thing that fixed it was hard reset (hold down home and power button together for 10 seconds), so worth trying if other things fail
