Can't seem to access my ChinesePod vocal lists

LilyWhyteLegs   July 17th, 2012 9:25p.m.

I can't access my ChinesePod vocal lists from the Web site or iOS app. Anyone else having problems? Could the API be down again?!

Mandarinboy   July 17th, 2012 9:42p.m.

Same for me and Cpod is up so it might be the API again.

bennyboyk   July 17th, 2012 9:53p.m.

nooooooooooo! ><

马洲屹   July 17th, 2012 10:15p.m.

Having the same problem. I have emailed the guys about it.

swimming   July 18th, 2012 9:16a.m.

Having the same problem too since yesterday. Would be nice to get some official word from skritter/CPod as to what is going on and when can we expect the problem to be solved.

kellyl   July 18th, 2012 9:46a.m.

Yeah, same problem here so I came looking on the forum to see if a 'fix' was coming soon... please?

马洲屹   July 18th, 2012 11:16a.m.

Are people finding that the app crashes? That is what is happening to me on both the iPhone and iPad.

bennyboyk   July 18th, 2012 11:24a.m.

Yes, clicking on CPOD lessons on app makes it crash.

Website just no CPOD lessons appear and searching brings up no results.

Databases aren't syncing properly. Please fix as soon as possible, I like to learn all words in a lesson before moving onto the next and this will slow learning progress down.

LilyWhyteLegs   July 18th, 2012 11:59a.m.

I'm having same problems as bennyboyk.

Can't add my vocab for this weeks lessons. >_<

learninglife   July 18th, 2012 12:17p.m.

please try to fix it. i like to keep learning ... :)

scott   July 18th, 2012 4:34p.m.

The ChinesePod API is down. I wrote them yesterday asking them for info but I haven't heard back yet.

I'm working on the fixes for the site and the app to handle when the API is unavailable. They'll go out with the next versions. Other than that there isn't much I can do on this side, I'm afraid.

swimming   July 19th, 2012 6:25a.m.

I suggest posting comments on the recent ChinesePod lessons asking what happened to the connection with Skritter and when it will be fixed. Maybe it would help...

swimming   July 19th, 2012 7:46a.m.

Until the ChinesePod API is fixed, is it possible to regain access to the ChinesePod vocab lists that are cached at Skritter? Such an arrangement was made last time the ChinesePod API was down.

scott   July 19th, 2012 2:47p.m.

Probably more efficient then contacting them through lesson comments is to send feedback here:

http://chinesepod.com/contact

I've just done so to try and get a response.

Try turning on beta. That should allow access to the ChinesePod list pages if you were logged in when the API went down, at least.

swimming   July 19th, 2012 3:34p.m.

I tried turning on beta but get "The ChinesePod API is currently unavailable." Does that mean that I am out of luck and was not logged in when the API went down?

I did send feedback to http://chinesepod.com/contact, but they don't seem to respond... That's why I thought that posting lesson comments might get their attention.

scott   July 19th, 2012 5:15p.m.

Oh I thought you meant accessing ChinesePod lists you were already studying or adding from them. If you're studying lists you can get to them from the study page. And if you study, words will be added from them still.

swimming   July 19th, 2012 8:19p.m.

I meant accessing CPod lists that were created before the API went down, even if I was not studying them yet. Aren't these lists cached at Skritter? If I am not mistaken, this was possible, after a while, last time the CPod API was down.

learninglife   July 20th, 2012 10:49a.m.

it is really annoying that it still doesnt work. but as i said before you can create your own list in skritter and there just copy and past the exported list of chosen characters from chinesepod.

scott   July 20th, 2012 6:41p.m.

I ended up fiddling with it and managed to fix it. The API had been pointed at www.chinesepod.com, but turns out that abruptly stopped working. I had to switch it to chinesepod.com. I don't know why the old one doesn't work anymore. I'm asking them to look into it and to let me know what subdomain I should use to make sure this doesn't happen again.

Thanks for your patience everyone.
