Vocab list questions

mratranslate   April 10th, 2012 5:28a.m.

Hi all,

Please forgive me if these are silly questions but I am new and still learning!

(1) In terms of vocab, is the overall idea/best idea to keep adding more and more vocab lists to learn more words? Or is their a limit to how many lists you can have?

(2) I also seem to be getting some duplicate words..I think from something called 'old queue'; can I stop this or would I need to delete this list?

Thanks for any thoughts on this.. Just trying to fully understand the best way to use this fantastic site!

Thanks
Matthew

No limit to lists.

You can't get duplicate words. What might be happening is that either you're adding a new part to a word you've already added (eg, definition), and/or the word which you're adding also exists in 'old queue', and wasn't added previously. When adding words, they will appear to be come from the list they were added to first (studied or not), even if that is not the list you are adding from at the moment.

In my opinion more lists is not better. I think you should add list(s) from the book you are studying and maybe some general list - in my case I want to learn words in daily use and my principal list is now 1000 most used words in TV subtitles.

Third case is a personal list, in my case some personal names and place names of my new chinese relatives plus some words related to hobbies and single words i find interesting.

Skritter takes care of the duplicates so you don“t have to worry about them.
