What does turning the heisting keywords on do exactly?

What do the heisting keywords do? I'm a little afraid to change the settings to something that will permanently mark things on certain words. What does this setting do?

Turning on Heisig keywords means that the character definitions will change to the ones used in the books by Heisig and Richardson (see http://www.amazon.com/Remembering-Simplified-Hanzi-Meaning-Characters/dp/0824833236 and http://www.amazon.com/Remembering-Simplified-Hanzi-James-Heisig/dp/0824836553/ref=pd_bxgy_b_text_y ), so if you don't use these books it's not a good idea to turn that setting on.

edit: And for Japanese it's the books by Heisig: Remembering the Kanji 1 and Remembering the Kanji 2.
