Definition Format Overhaul

timwebber   May 17th, 2013 10:20p.m.

I'm feeling more and more motivated to clean up all off my personal definitions. I want to:
- add the parts of speech (noun, adverb, etc)
- scale back the synonyms for each definition similar to what the Heisig words aim to do
- Deal with multiple definitions more elegantly, perhaps with numbers like the PLC dictionary in Pleco (but also straight omitting some until I have learnt a word where the character actually utilizes those alternate definitions)
- Deal with dūoyīnzì more elegantly

So firstly, I'm looking for OCD people like me to share the strategies and formats that they use.

Secondly, I want to know the easiest way to actually go about doing this once I decide on the format:
Can it be done without some clunky html editor? Can it be done quickly through excel?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

If you make a spreadsheet, you can email a tab-separated file to me where the first tab is the characters for the word and the second is your custom definition, and I'll run a script to batch-upload them all to your Skritter account.
