Reading materials HSK 5 level

安七   January 14th, 2014 8:16p.m.

Hi Skritterers,

I'm currently working my way up from HSK 4 to the fifth level. While Skritter is good for Chinese-to-English and writing, I'm lacking material to practice my reading.

I've read all the Chinese Breeze short stories already, and currently no books beyond their level 3 are published. Does anybody have advice as to where to look for something to work on my reading comprehension and speed?

Cheers,
安七

I studied the Boya textbook series and the essays in their intermediate books were really helpful for reading practice and vocab expansion. I also read children's books such as The Little Prince, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, etc. If you can get your hands on books and magazines geared toward 3-5th grade (native) Chinese grade school students, that will help. It was good practice for me leading up to HSK 5.
