Feature suggestion: Dictation exercise

henning   June 29th, 2009 3:27p.m.

This one could be possible to implement based on the existing features: A dictation exercise. Read a complete sentence the user needs to write down. Maybe with a fixed boundary of "replays" - especially for longer sentences. Maybe even complete articles.

The reason for this: Dictation not only teaches individual words but also collocation and sentence building. Another observation (but maybe that is my problem only): Because I never find the time to write by hand, I tend to forget some rather high-frequent characters that do not reappear as parts of other vocab.

Priority: Middle / low -> "nice-to-have" mid-term

What you call "dictation exercise" we call "sentence practice", AJATT-style, and it's on the longer term list. Naturally, it'll be a big undertaking. But you're right, that'll be the next step towards becoming pro at many aspects of Chinese. Maksym is longing for it in Skritter, but we've cleverly distracted him by stuffing Japanese and the Kitness Center into his hands.

Thanks! Looking forward to it!
