Looks like the Great Firewall or something like it is preventing you from completely loading www.skritter.com because it is hosted on Google App Engine, which is periodically blocked. Try instead our mirror:

legacy.skritter.cn

This might also be caused by an internet filter, such as SafeEyes. If you have such a filter installed, try adding appspot.com to the list of allowed domains.

Potential for a Firefox addon?

Pardon my ignorance if this suggestion hasn't already been posted. But would it be a good idea to have some sort of firefox addon that allows you to, if you see a character on a website you want to learn, highlight it and add it to your skritter queue. I've been sending some emails to a Chinese friend to get some practice and they often come back with some good words and characters I can use, but I have to add them manually. I know it is not too much of a task but I think a firefox addon really would improve learning when you're looking through Chinese texts online.

Thank you

Sounds like you want the "Add to Skritter" bookmarklet. It should show up on the home page under "Tools".

If you're using Chrome, install the Zhongwen extension, which does exactly what you want as well as showing popup definitions.

If you're committed to Firefox, check out Perapera-kun. You can save words as you browse, then copy and paste into your Skritter queue.

Feel a bit foolish now. Thank you for showing me that.
