Looks like the Great Firewall or something like it is preventing you from completely loading www.skritter.com because it is hosted on Google App Engine, which is periodically blocked. Try instead our mirror:

legacy.skritter.cn

This might also be caused by an internet filter, such as SafeEyes. If you have such a filter installed, try adding appspot.com to the list of allowed domains.

Unable to add words/sync.

rodney   April 11th, 2014 10:21a.m.

Since yesterday I have been encountering some problems while using Skritter. No matter whether I'm at home or at work my skritter seems to be unable to sync or add any new words. However if I keep pressing "force sync" it might work once every 10 times, which makes the problem even weirder. but at least it lets me review my words, just i can't add new ones :(

I also reinstalled skritter and restarted my Ipad; logged out my wireless networks etc. However the problem is still there. Did anyone ever had a similar problem before?

in the sync status menu it says "Paused - had error" then in the log it says Failed - server error

PS i'm using an Ipad 4 Ios 7.0.4.

Edit: I set up my VPN on my iPad and suddenly everything works again.... Guess it's Sth that got blocked again in china

Check out my post from a couple of days ago "Sync problems in mainland China."

Basically sounds like the same thing that was happening to me, although it seems weird that the timing is different. The kind of problem you described was happening to me before yesterday, but yeterday was much better.

Where are you in China and what ISP do you have at home/work?
