When do I get to the writing?

Hi all, I'm new ^^

Just wondering why I am not being given characters to write yet. Do I have to study each one enough times for the reading/definition to be mastered first?

I tend to learn most effectively when I work on writing at the same time as reading, and thought that was how it worked.

Sometimes it takes a while, but I started out with writing and didn't see any reading until after a while. Make sure you have writing enabled in your study settings on your profile page.

Genki 1 specifies that most words are to be studied without the kanji. You can override this with the "Study All Kanji In List" setting in your study settings, or you can pick lists that don't skip over the kanji at first.

Aha! Thank you :) "Study All Kanji In List" is what I was missing. Silly Genki.
