Strange List Behavior

icebear   March 1st, 2012 2:54a.m.

I have a list called "ChinesePod" which started behaving strangely today; I added a large batch of new words, which automatically created a sublist called "March 2012". No matter what I do (including deleting and re-adding the sublist) the list refuses to add new words; I've changed the settings to add starting from that list and saved them several times but each time when the page reloads no change has happened (i.e. the list isn't adding, is just being ignored). Any tips?

It looks like all the words in that section have already been added previously. So if you add it again, the list scans it, sees nothing new to add, and sets itself to finished again. As soon as you add a new word to that section, which you haven't studied before, it will remain 'on'. I think that's what's happening.

Hi Scott,

Actually, that was my adhoc way of fixing it - it was never able to add any words from "March 2012", no matter how many times I changed the words in that list or re-added the list to be studied or reset the list to be "adding". In the end I just created a "March 2012 2" with the same words and it was able to load those, which is why by the time you saw it all the words had been added already. Not sure what the quirk is but I managed to get around it.

Thanks

Ah I see! Well, if you see it happen again, leave the list as it is, and let me know and I'll take a look.
