Life after Skritter Chinese 101

bobbyd   June 19th, 2013 6:10a.m.

I just ran through the Skritter Chinese 101 list. My reading level is around new HSK4/5 level and my aim is to know how to write everything up through new HSK 5. Should I just dive right into the new HSK lists, or is there a Skritter Chinese 201 I should know about to keep laying that foundation? The "Chinese Grammatical Parts of Speech" list looks super useful, but I know it will take a month away from preparing for the HSK. Assuming there is some sort of a trade-off......

Doesn't HSK4 vocabulary consist of about 1200 characters/words ? HSK5 would be double that number. The Chinese 101 list has 200 .......

You'll find that most list have overlap with the HSK list as they are containing the most frequently used characters. If your goal is HSK, whatever level, I would stick to using HSK lists only for now.

I was also misled by the OP's wording. :)

I think he meant four/fifths of the HSK 1. But yes, I would do the HSK next.
