Coffee in Bristol, UK

Byzanti   November 14th, 2013 6:16p.m.

The thought came in a roundabout way as I'm looking for a flatmate at the moment, but I was wondering if there were any Skritterers in Bristol who would like to meet up at a Boston Tea Party for a coffee and a Chinese chat sometime?

One thing I miss about London is that there are loads of Chinese meet up groups...

Sorry to hijack a thread about Bristol... but I've just moved to London. How did you find those groups?

Not a hijack - I am very happy to talk about London!

Most of the groups you can find on meetup.com, but there are are also other more established ones like the Chopsticks Club. The latter do regular talks and events, and are worth looking in to.

I've been to most of the groups, and I found the best to be this one: http://www.meetup.com/chinese-22/ . It's a very friendly social event with around 40-50 people attending, and there's a mixture of Mandarin, English and Cantonese spoken. Only once a month. I try and go there when I'm back in London. I found that other groups didn't have the numbers, or the diversity, or a good enough level of spoken Chinese to be enjoyable.

Oh thanks, that's really useful. Maybe I'll go tonight!
