Individual characters

I check the lists I have an there i can se that the individual characters are listed. When testing I do however never see them show up. Often when testing there is one or two characters in an compound word that we are having problem to learn. It would be very nice if that character did pop up instead of the whole word all the time. Do I miss anything here? It would be perfect if the troublesome character did show up more often until it is learned and then the whole word come back. I did try to change the add word frequency but can't se any change in this.

add word frequency is for how often new words will be mixed in with your reviews...

your problem has been discussed before, from both sides I think, because other times the character itself is not the problem but remembering which "zuo" is in "gongzuo" could be the problem instead. I believe it will eventually give you the individual character if you keep messing it up. However, if an individual character is used often in compound words and you get one of those compound words correct, it counts that as having reviewed the individual character so you aren't likely to see the individual character anytime soon.

That's my understanding of the process anyway. I could be way off.

It will not give us the individual character. She is having problem with some compounds and constantly missing one of the character. We have never seen that individual character showing up alone. There are some words that might have been wrong more than 30 times and still no individual character.

When I get the new prompt interface going on in there, it'll be smart about whether you knew the word or the character, so one can be marked right and the other wrong. That will help for this sort of thing, because then Skritter can figure out whether you need to see the full word or just one character from it.

For now, perhaps she can skip past the other characters in the words that she already knows until she gets to the problem characters? That might save time.
