Looks like the Great Firewall or something like it is preventing you from completely loading www.skritter.com because it is hosted on Google App Engine, which is periodically blocked. Try instead our mirror:

This might also be caused by an internet filter, such as SafeEyes. If you have such a filter installed, try adding appspot.com to the list of allowed domains.

Web page not loading

I'm in Shanghai, using skritter.cn on XP and Maverick with various browsers (Safari, IE, Chrome). Since quite some time, I have the problem that web-pages do not load. The home page normally loads without problem, however, study page and forum do not load. Only after clicking re-load for 20, 30 times, these pages load. Also study items loading is very slow. This is regardless of browser and location (home, office). Anybody else experiencing same problem?

There was another forum post discussing this, perhaps a month or two ago. As I mentioned there I too have been having the same problem in China. I always find that if you wait a few minutes after a page fails to load, and then try to refresh that page, then it will work.

Naturally having to wait a few minutes every time you want to do this though is quite a pain, but these days I basically just stay connected to a VPN all the time so I don't have this problem.

No one ever seemed to be able to determine what causes this to happen in the other forum post so it seems there isn't really anything that can be done about it I'm afraid.

Stuart, thanks, I've found the forum post, was from November last year. Seems, the problem is still there.

I also have the same problem on my pc. I can't remember the last time skritter.cn worked for me. I use freegate, which is very "just so-so". It is slow loading words to review, so I read a book while waiting. I used to use a free VPN called VPN Reactor, but that stopped working for me.

I don't have wifi at home, so I only occasionally use my ipod, on wifi in the office. It usually doesn't have a problem syncing.
