Thanks for the update (iOS 1.0.4)

lechuan   August 27th, 2012 10:36p.m.

Just wanted to say thanks for the update. The app is noticeably faster and more responsive. :)

adamd   August 27th, 2012 10:56p.m.

Yeah, this is great. Dead speedy on my iPhone 4.

蓓蕾   August 28th, 2012 12:34a.m.

Is anyone else having trouble getting the update? The app store shows an 'update', but when I go there it says the update is to version 1.0.2 . I can download it all I want and go back to refresh and it will still have the notifier for an update!

nepumuk   August 28th, 2012 12:55a.m.

蓓蕾,I also have this problem... guess it takes some time until the update is available in all itunes stores?

Mandarinboy   August 28th, 2012 1:11a.m.

Same here. I am in china but my store is the swedish. Will try a proxy to US to see if that helps.

Alan   August 28th, 2012 2:33a.m.

My iPhone and iPad both have this problem on the Canadian App Store. I haven't seen this happen before, although the London 2012 Official App is showing an update from early August on both devices, which I already installed, so maybe it is the App storre's problem....

adamd   August 28th, 2012 2:43a.m.

Vogue中国 stuffed up for me on the weekend, repeatedly asking me to install an update from last year. The App Store might have some problems.

learninglife   August 28th, 2012 3:28a.m.

when i hit the "update app" button nothing happened.
BUT
when i hit the "update all apps" buttons on the iphone it slowly starts to upload now. seems to take a while thouh.

so remember: dont hit the app itself for update, just go back one step and press "update all".
good luck!

nepumuk   August 28th, 2012 4:15a.m.

learninglife, yeah, it does "update" with this trick, however the "updated" version still is 1.0.2 instead of 1.0.4

so i guess it's a glitch in the app store and it takes some patience until the guys at apple fixed it...

Zeppa   August 28th, 2012 4:28a.m.

Yes, I can only find 1.0.2 in the App Store in Germany.

learninglife   August 28th, 2012 4:33a.m.

it took nearly half a day to download and then its still the 1.0.2 version!
correct, nepomuk!

shenqi   August 28th, 2012 4:54a.m.

Same here (HK using US store).

adamd   August 28th, 2012 5:20a.m.

Yeah, 1.0.4 seems to have vanished in Australia too. My iPad keeps offering 1.0.2 as the update. 1.0.4 was definitely there a few hours ago because it's on my iPhone.

马洲屹   August 28th, 2012 5:34a.m.

I have the Aussie store and all I have is 1.0.2 on offer

learninglife   August 28th, 2012 6:00a.m.

well i think we shouldnt be too concerned. th 1.0.2 is doing the job just fine.

shenqi   August 28th, 2012 6:04a.m.

I'm just excited at the prospect of Skritter feeling fast on my iPhone 4...

learninglife   August 28th, 2012 7:41a.m.

i already have a pretty good speed on my iphone here in beijing. i still need time to think ...

lechuan   August 28th, 2012 10:33a.m.

Maybe apple released prematurely? The app store now lists the latest version as v1.0.2. My downloaded Skritter version lists itself as "v1.0.4 2012-09-02". At least we definitely have something to look forward to :)

nick   August 28th, 2012 11:38a.m.

This is weird. The app updated was approved yesterday and sent to the store; I checked it and saw 1.0.4 and resolved to announce it shortly. Then I checked again and it's been showing 1.0.2.

Let's give it some time and see what happens.

SkritterJake   August 28th, 2012 2:00p.m.

Seems to be downloadable again. Just updated my iPad to 1.0.4 from Taiwain.

Alan   August 28th, 2012 2:20p.m.

Here in Canada too- although the iPhone App Store's 'Updates' screen showed 1.0.4, and the clicking on Skritter from that page still showed 1.0.2!

Remember to re-review if you want your rating to count.

lechuan   August 28th, 2012 2:37p.m.

Half an hour ago the app store had 1.0.4. Now it's back to 1.0.2

adamd   August 28th, 2012 4:28p.m.

1.0.4 just came down for me.

lechuan   August 28th, 2012 4:57p.m.

1.0.4 is back! Maybe someone at apple is monitoring this thread and having some fun with us :)

learninglife   August 28th, 2012 8:39p.m.

1.04 now available. i am just downloading it in beijing.

snowcreature99   August 28th, 2012 9:12p.m.

Anybody else feel like they're getting quizzed on way more tones than before with 1.04? Maybe is just my imagination.

learninglife   August 28th, 2012 9:22p.m.

what i realized is that the syncing is so much faster. wow!

Sandeep   August 29th, 2012 12:23a.m.

Downloaded on my iPad though wonder why the update is as big as the original app!
Not much of an issue though!

Alan   August 29th, 2012 1:16a.m.

This is the way the app store works, it re-downloads the same amount when updating as it would for a user who hadn't ever installed it. There is no way of applying an incremental 'patch' or 'update'.

subutai   August 29th, 2012 5:21a.m.

Just downloaded the update as well. Noticable jump up in speed. Thanks!

DependableSkeleton   August 29th, 2012 3:06p.m.

snowcreature99: today the app added 188 word tones for me. [I'm on manual add only and didn't hit the add button.] They were from many words that I added over the last few weeks, but the tones only got added in 1.0.4.

Of the 1860 items I have studied overall so far today, 1589 were character or word tone prompts. I'm not complaining by any means. I felt like the previous version of the app wasn't properly balanced between the various parts of study.

高君睿   August 30th, 2012 1:20a.m.

After the update, all I am able to practice are "draw the tone". Any suggestions for fixing this, or will we have to wait for another update? In the meantime, I'm going to reinstall V1.0.2.

scott   August 30th, 2012 3:50p.m.

There were some issues with making sure all the data was downloaded and all the items were studied, particularly for people studying traditional Chinese, which both of you, Dependable Skeleton and 高君睿, are studying, so that's why you're seeing a huge backlog of items coming.

@高君睿: You probably shouldn't revert to the old version, otherwise you'll never get to learn all those tones the app should have given you before, unless you use the site. Sorry it's unbalanced right now, but that's to make up for it being unbalanced before. On the site, you might try using "Save Me" to push all those tones back and spread them out over a period of time, so you don't have to get through them all at once.

高君睿   August 31st, 2012 4:57a.m.

Many thanks Scott! Save Me did the trick. I should really check out more options on the website.
