Vocabulary: Spanish textbooks Hanyu 1 and Hanyu 2

zhangyanglu   May 22nd, 2012 11:00a.m.

Hi all,

I was wondering if anybody is using the textbooks "Hanyu 1" or "Hanyu 2" for Spanish speaking students... it was published by Editorial Herder.

So far I couldn't find the lists anywhere, but since it's quite a lot of words I was hoping that I don't need to create the lists by myself ;-)

Regards

Zhangyanglu

We have these two lists for that series (out of six total):

http://www.skritter.com/vocab/list?list=50489036
http://www.skritter.com/vocab/list?list=172933246

We've suddenly gotten interest in these books all at once though. Two others have recently asked for it, and I believe they're working on importing the rest of the lists. But for anyone who makes the lists, we offer two months free credit on Skritter per list we don't already have. So if you wait, the rest should appear soon.

In terms of having it for Spanish, you can switch your source language in the upper right corner of any page by clicking the 'lang' link, or in account study settings. Then anything we have missing in our Spanish dictionary can be added to the system. When adding definitions, though, they should not be taken from the book; they're most likely under copyright, so they should be self written or taken from some free source that doesn't prohibit commercial use.

Actually we could use more contributors/ballers for the Spanish dictionary, particularly a native speaker. If you're at all interested in devoting some time to expanding and improving our Spanish dictionary, I can set you up to have editing/moderating powers. In exchange you can use Skritter for free.

Hello Scott,

thanks for your answer... always impressed by the fast responses here :)

Actually, I think we're talking about two different textbooks.

I meant these:

http://www.herdereditorial.com/section/2161/
http://www.herdereditorial.com/section/2062/
http://www.herdereditorial.com/section/3220/

There's only three of them and they bring you up to B2 level, according to their own definition.

One time I travelled to China I also saw other Spanish people with that textbook in the plane. I don't know if it is widely used or not, but at least we use it in class. ;-)

Problem I see, especially about the Hanyu2, though, is that the vocabulary doesn't come in "lessons" anymore, like in the 1st book. In the 2nd one they just put a dictionary-style vocab list at the end, ordered from A to Z, and I figure it's not really useful the way it is, so it might need some re-work.

I use Hanyu2 at the moment and have created my own lists to study. I find this is easier as there is a lot of vocabulary and not all of it is particularly useful (for example all the adjectives to describe body parts in unit 4). I guess uploading the dictionary-style list and letting each user select which words to study or ordering them by unit would be a possibility.

Ah, well I don't think anyone is working on those lists, so if you'd like some free time on Skritter you can make lists for them. I assume Hanyu 3 vocab is organized like Hanyu 2 vocab, at the end in a dictionary? I think missb's suggestions sounds good, if there's no other obvious way to upload those lists.
