I can't add 屹

I need this character since I need to practice writing my name.

practice 山 and 乞?

just kidding, must be a bug or a really rare character to not be in the database?

Got it. It was in the queue to be reviewed and given a reading and definition, but we hadn't gotten to it yet--our translator is still behind.

屹 - yì - towering like a mountain

I've found quite a few more obscure characters can't be added by themselves ("PLACEHOLDER - character unavailable, will be added soon") but they always work as part of a two-(or more)-character word.

They'll work as part of the words in that they'll be added, but the word will be skipped over because the character hasn't been defined yet. (Because of the way stroke uploads worked, we had to add placeholders for all the characters instead of letting them be created by users when needed).
