Could one of you tech wizzes (you guys have helped me so much before!) help me with a problem...

Basic Q: How do I just transfer certain apps from my computer to my iPod (as all my apps are on my iPad but I dont have enough room on the iPod). Further details if you need:

I use skritter and all my other apps on IPad no prob.

Just updated my iPod to version 6 so that i can install skritter so that 2 of my family can skritter at same time while we are in China.

But...restore would not happen because now not enough space. so none of my apps / music are on my iPod anymore.

Not too bothered, at the moment I just want SKRITTER and PLECO on as I intend to use IPod in China as a handheld dictionary and a skritter tool.

SO...How do I just choose Skritter and Pleco apps to transfer to my Ipod, without affecting my other apps so that they are there for the iPad?????

Donna, you just do it in iTunes. When you sync your iPad, all the apps will be taken over to iTunes on your computer, then you sync your iPod. But you can also select, which apps should be synced with the iPod by just tick the relevant apps.
If you don't have iTunes, just download it from the apple homepage.

I think I know what's up.
You have set your iPod to some kind of automatic sync in iTunes, according to some set (by you, possibly) preferences. In the meantime the system (iOS6) on your iPod has become larger, so there is no longer sufficient space to fulfill your request. Then the program is unable to complete the sync.

What you need to do:

1. Connect your iPod to your computer and fire up iTunes.
2. Open your device (the red circle on the picture).
3. Look at your capacity (blue circle) to determine your main problem.
4. Select the part in the menu (brown circle) where you wish to remove things from the sync. I have chosen music, since that is where I have the most data.
5. Fiddle around with the settings. You are probably syncing all your music (green circle), so disable that.

You will get a live preview of how much data is set to be synced, as you change your preferences. When you are down at an amount that fits the capacity of your device, hit sync.

Remember to hit sync.

Thanks both, Laspimon thanks for the instructions,however the 'apply' and 'sync' buttons were greyed out...did some searches and it sounded like only way to fix this problem was to restore to factory settings and start again as if I was registering a new iPod - which I did and now I have the apps on that I want - including Skritter :-)

Whenever I have to update stuff with itunes/pods/pads etc I always have these frsutrating very time consuming problems!

Donna, other way would be to go to App Store on the iPod, and go to the "purchased" option. Then select "iCloud" (or similar), and it will show you all of your apps that aren't currently on your iPod. But this only works if you're using the same Apple ID.
