raw squigs

mratranslate   June 25th, 2013 5:44p.m.

hi all, i turned on raw squigs the other week, rentention has fallen from around 92% to 80%... owch..! But it shows how much the hints kind of fake your knowledge and actually without them one knows far less. Hoping to build it back up again but it's taking time...

Even then, when you write and it doesn't register you know you have done it wrong..so you can guess again. So I think you cannot beat simple writing and checking sometimes. However, the repetition and handiness of the app I cannot deny!

I tried out the raw squidwards thing you mentioned and it makes it much more difficult and my writing turns ugly.

But I think this makes Skritter so useful as a learning tool.

Raw squigs is a must in my opinion. It was the same for me, my retention tanked, but now it's better than it was and I'm much more confident of writing on paper. Stick with it and you will get used to it. Retention in the 90s is massively unrealistic, until you are at an advanced level.

Mostly it comes down to how you grade yourself. Ideally if you grade yourself consistently strict then both the regular and raw mode would be the same. The big difference is the raw squigs exemplify our mistakes and show us how ugly our writing truly can be.

@Hugh723, raw Squidwards? Next they should churn out raw Planktons and Patricks!

Hugh723   June 26th, 2013 11:33a.m.

I think raw Planktons or Patricks are unnessary features at this point. Of course if the demand is great enough, we can lobby the Skritter guys to put them on the to-do list. ~^_^~
