Fountain pen font / Writing cursive

gua nö   August 17th, 2013 12:38p.m.

I wrote this as a reply to an old post, but it didn't get bumped so I thought I might start a new thread.

How about having the ability to write in a font designed to look like it's written with a fountain pen instead of a brush (still kaishu though)?

An other feature that I would really like is the ability to practise writing xingshu 行书 (semi-cursive)/caoshu 草书 (cursive), since I've seen it a lot and can't even understand some of the most basic characters. Though, maybe that would be extremely hard to implement.

I think that being able to learn how to write 行书 and 草书 would be extremely useful. I find most of the handwritten 汉字 that I see illegible, since most people seem to write using 行书。This would also make writing much faster...

It's beyond the scope of Skritter's handwriting tech to train you how to write cursive, since we're all about stroke recognition, and when the entire character is one or two "strokes", our algorithms can't give you meaningful feedback. Sorry!

How about the fountain pen kaishu font?

That would still require us to recreate every character we've ever made, stroke by stroke. While it would look cool, I think it's not too feasible for an aesthetic improvement.
