In general, I study writing, definitions, and tones, but sometimes I only want to study the tones and definitions of certain items, because I like to concentrate most of my writing-studying time on tough characters, rather than words that are made up of 2-4 easy characters.
Is there a way to make it so that only certain study parts get added to the review queue and not others ? For example, is there a way that I can have 坐月子 show up in my review queue when I'm studying definitions and tones, but not when I'm studying writing ?
Here is why :
"坐月子" is made of 3 simple characters, all of which I learned how to write years ago, so I don't want to waste any time writing out 坐月子. I do , however, want to have it show up when I'm reviewing definitions and tones, because sometimes I'm not sure if 子 is neutral tone or 3rd tone, and because the definition is something I might forget because Westerners don't 坐月子.
So even though I definitely need to have 坐月子 show up in my review queue to keep it fresh in my mind, I definitely don't need to spend time writing it , because I already know how to do that and any time I spend writing it is wasted.
There are actually lots of words like this. Off the top of my head:
房产,学位,茶水, 带孩子 are all other examples where the individual characters are all very basic, but when these characters combine to make multi-character words, then that's not so easy, and reviewing is thus needed.
