Android App: Add to Skritter

mcfarljw   March 13th, 2012 9:09p.m.

Quickly add characters and words on the fly using this Android app.

Type in a word or character (not pinyin) and then click add. It will open up a browser window in the same way the desktop bookmarklet works. If in China change the domain on the bottom to CN. You may be required to log in.

Give it a try:

Any and all feedback is welcome! I'd like to keep it on the simple side, but am open to small changes here and there.

I'll be adding a quick add widget to it in a few days.

What features or other links do you think would be useful?

Adding a quick add widget won't be possible. At the moment Android releases don't allow widgets to accept text input.

An update was just released that has an auto-paste feature. It will automatically paste if you have Chinese or Japanese text copied. This feature can be disabled using your devices menu button and selected to turn auto-paste off.

Not to stir up an old dead topic, but I just released an update to the app. Added features include: language specific voice recognition (if you have an engine), redesigned buttons and a few code clean ups on the back-end.

I tested the app in all the emulators, but they don't support a lot of the features that I needed to test. Thus far it has only been tested using version 2.2.1 Froyo.

Would other be willing to give it a quick test? If you have it installed an upgraded let me know if the voice recognition is working and what your version number is. Thanks!

tested on 2.3.5 and voice recognition is working for simplified chinese.

thanks marchey, glad to hear good news, especially considering a majority of users are running a version of 2.3
